L’artista iraniano Arash Radpour, figlio dell’illustratore satirico italo-iraniano Dariush Radpour, descrive in chiave irriverente – a tratti scorretta – una fotografia del panorama globale contemporaneo, mettendo in scena aspetti e contraddizioni che regolano gli equilibri del periodo storico che stiamo attraversando: dai media di vecchia e nuova generazione ai giochi di potere di natura geopolitica.

Iranian artist Arash Radpour, son of the Italo-Persian satirical illustrator Dariush Radpour, describes in an irreverent key – at times unorthodox- a photograph of the contemporary global landscape, displaying aspects and contradictions that regulate the balances of the historical period we are going through: from the old and new generation media to the power games of a geopolitical nature.

Arash Radpour è nato a Teheran, Iran, nel 1976. All’età di 4 anni fuggì con i suoi genitori a Roma, Italia, per scappare dall’oppressione della rivoluzione iraniana del 1979. Nel 1994 si diploma in fotografia al Rossellini State Institute. Sin dall’inizio degli anni 2000 ha lavorato nel campo della pubblicità, firmando campagne fotografiche internazionali per molti brand importanti. Nel 2003 ha vinto il Mediastar Award per la miglior fotografia pubblicitaria. Dal 2005 è impegnato in varie ricerche tra cui la video arte.

Il suo lavoro è stato esposto alla Biennale di Venezia, al Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata, al Modern Art Museum in New Delhi, al MAMBA in Buenos Aires, al Stupinigi Hunting Lodge a Torino, al Andersen Museum, al Napoleonic Museum, nonché al MAXXI e al MACRO a Roma. Nel 2011 è stato selezionato come uno dei top 100 fotografi nel mondo e incluso nel coffee table book pubblicato da Rizzoli International intitolato “NEW YORK, a Photographer’s City” edito da Marla Hamburg Kennedy. Dal 2014 vive e lavora a Napoli.

Arash Radpour was born in Teheran, Iran, in 1976. At the age of four he fled with his parents to Rome, Italy, to escape the oppression of the Iranian revolution of 1979. In 1994 he graduated in Photography from the Rossellini State Institute. Since the early 2000s he worked in the advertising field, signing international photographic campaigns for many important brands. In 2003 he won the Mediastar Award for the best advertising photography. Since 2005 he has been engaged in various research including video art.

His work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, at the Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata, the Modern Art Museum in New Delhi, the MAMBA in Buenos Aires, the Stupinigi Hunting Lodge in Turin, the Andersen Museum, the Napoleonic Museum, as well as the MAXXI and the MACRO in Rome. In 2011 he was selected as one of the top 100 photographers in the world and is included in the coffee table book published by Rizzoli International called, “NEW YORK, a Photographer’s City” edited by Marla Hamburg Kennedy. Since 2014 he lives and works in Naples.
