The iconic appeal of Shaft Jeans

Don't just call them jeans. The brand Shaft Jeans was born in 1964 in Montpellier, in Monsieur Shafir's workshop and arrived in Italy 4 years later, during the hot years of the cultural revolution, absorbing all the most identifying aspects of the stylistic revolution of those years: flared cuts, high waists and those shining - glam details of the disco music.

A company that is an example of quality and tradition defined through a refined style constantly evolving, whose owner Francesca Bacci,  has made the use of colour, through cultural inspirations from overseas, to fashion icons, a must-have collection after collection.

The Shaft Jeans collection for the SS22 season sees an explosion of ethnic motifs that recall the characteristic aspects of American Indian costumes, from the fringes to the bright colours spreading energy. The lazy chic femininity of flared jeans, the absolute protagonists of the 70s, whose values are carried by the famous style icon Jane Birkin.  The craftsmanship method blends with the digital method of its prints, the matelassé textures and embroideries made on the denim with a floral motif highlight the value of Made in Italy and the laser pinstripe together with the inside scadow technique, the result: unique jeans with a different colour on the side, coming from the research and evolution of a unique product such as Shaft Jeans’one. In this collection, the company has chosen to broaden its range by creating a total look with blouses, blazers, kimonos and shirts  and focusing on its unconventional and no-limits character has conquered the global rock group Måneskin in the past few years.

They fell in love with each other a long time ago, straight after the show X Factor 2017, when the band from Rome left the tv program, and kept on working together throughout the Ballo della Vita Tour, in 2018 and 2019. The official Maneskin poster for the American tour shows Thomas Raggi, the guitarist, in the foreground, wearing burgundy-coloured criss-cross jeans made exclusively for them. It is common to find Damiano and Ethan photographed wearing "Lola" models in reflective coated vinyl, and Vic wearing white denim with graphics made up of studs and super wide bell-bottoms, while zebra print is Thomas' choice, strictly with a maxi print.

A "young at heart" and genderless brand: Shaft has in fact supplied the band with all women's models, worn with the same nonchalance by the musicians, regardless of size or gender. A strong, courageous concept, created to dress every body. To paraphrase a single by the Roman band, we could say "Fear for nobody, jeans for everybody".
