NOUS ANTWERP Interview

What is fashion for you?

Fashion is a large concept, we personally think people don’t have to take it too serious, because you don’t want to become a fashion victim… You can simply have your own style and wear what you want. The most important thing is that you feel good in what you are wearing and that it feels comfortable. That is exactly what we want to create with Nous Antwerp, something different with an own twist, but easy to wear.

When and why did you launch you brand?

We started in 2016 when we accidentally met an Indian manufacturer showing us the most fantastic tie & dye techniques on garments. It took us just a split second to leave for New Delhi where we made our first small collection in no more than 3 days time. Our idea was always to make our own collection one day and so it happened. We try to maintain our style and just get influenced by the beauty of yarns and fabrics.

Where do you take inspiration by when you create?

Inspiration can come from everywhere, from art galleries to food, from nature to busy city vibes… Everywhere you look there are interesting color combinations or shapes. We are not really trend followers, we follow our emotions.

How would you describe the collection you will present at White Show Milano?

Our winter collection is a combination of fluid fabrics, such as silk, cupro and viscose, combined with knitwear; baby alpaca, kid mohair and cashmere. We used quite some colors in the collection such as oil blue, dark green, fucsia, purple taupe and lilac to make it cheerful and bright, we believe in color for winter collections. The tie & dye techniques are an excellent tool to mix 2 or more colors into beautiful patterns.

Any future projects?

Traveling more (hopefully soon again) and explore new areas where we can find interesting fabrics and manufacturers to expand our collection. So many interesting things to explore when you travel, we always find something new to add!
