GI'N'GI Interview

How and when was GI’N’GI established?

Gi’n’Gi grew out of the artisan experience of the family firm in order to exploit the professionalism, competence and high quality products made for luxury brands which the company had created over years of steady collaboration. The first collection of Gi’n’Gi (the younger sister’s nickname for her older sister) was presented by the Sarti sisters in 2000.

What is the philosophy that inspires your work?

What guides us in the creation of the new collections is our constant research that enables us to propose accessories made with passion, with care, with love. Accessories in which everyone can recognize the commitment and attention given to create unique products that make the wearer feel special.

Your hats are 100% Made in Italy, where and how are they made?

The items of the Gi'n'Gi collection are designed, studied, created, decorated, prepared and packaged within the family company that is based in one of the most beautiful regions of our wonderful Italy: Tuscany. 100% Made in Italy, Made in Tuscany!

You have a long tradition of "family" in the fashion industry. How has the role of the hat in the wardrobe of the wearer changed over time?

Almost 100 years have passed since the beginning of our family tradition, we have seen the hat change and assume increasing importance. In the beginning, headwear was exclusively designed as a form of shelter, from the cold or from the sun. Even today this is the essence of its functionality but over time it has also become a way of standing out, an accessory through which can express your personality, your mood. An accessory worn to attract attention or, on the contrary, to cover up so as to make yourself more mysterious. Something which everyone can afford, even in difficult times like this, to indulge yourself and to renew your wardrobe.

What is the DNA of the collection you are presenting at White?

This latest Gi'n'Gi collection will also be present at White, to offer our loyal customers and those who will become so many creations designed to make them feel protected on rainy days, warm in the colder periods, comfortable on the most challenging days and amazing on important occasions. This is thanks to the studied choice of classic and timeless nylon, felts and wool mixed with mastery with sequins, faux leather and ribbons in a succession of warm and reassuring colours with occasional bright notes to ignite enthusiasm. A collection projected into the future in a continuous search for sustainable and natural materials, yet still anchored to the past in its continuation of the tradition and excellence of Italian artisanship.
