NART STUDIO Interview

What is fashion for you?

Fashion for me is an act of performance, a visual way you want to be perceived by the world. It's something that says a lot about each individual, fashion is also about belonging, about being part of something bigger than clothes and accessories.

When and why did you launch you brand?

It all started when I lost a ring from an ex boyfriend and got desperate. I looked for a jewellery studio to redo the ring. It was then that I understood how jewellery was made and I became obsessed with that process and started to learn goldsmithing. After that, I started designing pieces for myself and some close friends started to get interested and order other pieces.

Where do you take inspiration by when you create?

My inspiration comes in a very natural way, most of the time I don't know what the final result will be, but I always imagine a jewel that doesn't belong to a specific genre. The pieces take shape throughout the creative process, in which all are produced manually on a jewelry counter, where I test shapes and experiment on my body. I usually understand the meaning of the jewel after it's done.

How would you describe the collection you will present at White Show Milano?

As a compilation of my work in the past years. I have difficulty categorizing my work into collections, I see it all as single work in development.

Any future projects?

I am currently working on some pieces of furniture and home objects. I started making jewelry from sculpture, which were "mini sculptures" in my perception, and now I am making furniture out of jewelry, which would be "giant jewelry”.
