LE KADEAU Interview

How and when was Le kadeau born and why did you choose this name for your project?

Le Kadeau was born in 2018 from an idea of Laura Bosisio, a jewellery designer who had long dreamed of embracing and reconciling the values of the historic family tradition in the jewellery sector, creating a brand for today's woman: elegant, courageous, free and ironic. Le Kadeau takes up the challenge of modernity through radical and conscious stylistic choices with the aim of creating a truly innovative, international and independent vision. The name is due to the mixture of two concepts: the gift, "cadeau" in French, and the Japanese word "kadō", an archaic word to identify Ikebana, the art of arranging cut flowers, a practice linked to natural instinct and emotionality but also to precision and devotion to nature.

What inspires the creation of your collections?

All the Le Kadeau collections are inspired by the shapes found in nature, with particular attention to Ikebana, the ancient Japanese art of arranging cut flowers, the femininity of today's women, protagonists of their unique beauty, and children's games, thanks to which I transform each creation into precious ornamental objects and jewellery that move when worn, giving women who choose them an unexpected and sincere smile. With such dedication and passion, I distil the complexity of shapes found in nature and transform them into unique and indispensable details. My commitment is oriented towards the search for innovative solutions in a constant dialogue between reason and emotion, between tradition and creativity.

Do you have a target audience, who are your creations aimed at?

Le Kadeau jewellery is aimed at the elegant, courageous, free and ironic woman. I believe that authenticity is a set of choices that a woman has to make day after day and that permeate her history, her career, her style and the activities she carries out every day. Each collection represents the creation of a new world in which women are the essence of unique scenarios where nature combines with art, design and emotions.

Where and how is your jewellery made, what materials do you prefer?

The brand's guiding principle is closely linked to the values of Italian craftsmanship and the exchange of knowledge between designers and creative people, which can generate a true balance between the concept and its realisation. The jewellery is entirely handmade by Italian goldsmiths in the city of Milan. The choice and skilful use of materials, such as diamonds and 18 or 9 kt gold, in the colours designed for each set, is allied to the mastery of the finishes specific to each collection, making quality a pillar of every Le Kadeau jewel. All Le Kadeau collections are customisable and can be made in 18 or 9kt gold, with or without diamonds or precious stones.

What are you presenting at White?

I will be presenting the Swing collection and the Essential collection. The Swing collection evokes the swaying movement of folk dances interpreted by sinuous bodies, enhancing the shapes thanks to a modular game defined by the overlapping of stylised pine needles, a tribute to the Chinese game of mikado, as if to defend the wearer from all possible negativity. The collection is developed in 9Kt rose gold, with a satin effect, and is divided into seven proposals: ring, rigid bracelet, earrings, pendants and charms that form overlapping metal elements that are apparently flexible, combined with chains of different lengths to define an amulet suitable for any occasion. Flamenco, Lindy Hop, Boogie Woogie, Balboa, Guedra, Khaliji and Zaouli are the names of the creations. Names of dances that evoke past times through which very different peoples reached a common goal, freedom of expression. Essencial jewellery is Le Kadeau's ready-to-wear par excellence. Ready to be worn in moments of pure relaxation at home, combined with each other or with more daring jewellery. The jewels are made of 9Kt rose gold, matte effect, with a minimalist design: the Fir drop earrings, the Bulb ring with pendant, the Flake rigid bracelet, the Berry necklace in two versions, with one or more pendants and the Cone button earrings. The Essential collection is simple, discreet and designed to meet your every need. All the pieces in the collection with pendants are designed to create movement with a triangular ornamental element, with subtle and elegant lines that sways when worn.
