Asciari, sartorial and sustainable luxury Made in Sicily
By Caterina Di Iorgi
Asciari is a luxury brand born in 2016. It is characterized by minimalist aesthetics, purity of raw materials, and high craftsmanship, which constitute its essence and DNA. All brand's collections and products use high-quality raw materials that are exclusively natural and sustainable, all certified and handcrafted in Sicily. We interviewed Pietro Mazzettini, CEO and business development manager of Asciari.
What is your mission?
Asciari means "researching, creating an encounter" from archaic Sicilian. Precise cultural and aesthetical codes together with timeless values such as education, respect, and discretion are the core principles. For us, Asciari is a laboratory of ideas and special projects characterized by three fundamental aspects: minimalist aesthetics, natural raw materials, and high craftsmanship Made in Sicily. A non-conventional Sicily is evoked, made of austerity and minimalism, where nature, people, and land are at the center, beyond any stereotype. Asciari represents not only a brand but also a company based on respect for tradition and artisan roots, innovation, and land where economic growth involves human growth in a context of minimal waste and respect for nature.

Where and how is the search for yarns carried out?
The search for fabrics is at the basis of creative work and the fundamental part of Asciari's product. We start from the fabric, the sensations that it evokes, and its story to understand how it can be best expressed through a specific model or garment. At the core of the choice, there are principles to follow. Firstly, they are exclusively natural fibers, such as cotton, linen, wool, silk, hemp, cashmere, alpaca. They are used alone or with other natural fabrics. Secondly, they are all Italian fabrics, mainly from the district of Biella, Valsesia, and Como, or they come from England, from textile companies with prestigious heritage. Regarding the typology, besides natural fibers, we use organic, recycled, and certified fabrics. Finally, we work in contact with the style offices of textile firms to request colors on a sample or ad hoc fittings to highlight the product uniqueness and Asciari's identity.
In which way are you a sustainable brand?
Asciari was born as a natural extension of our wardrobe and modus vivendi. The same criteria that lead the creation of our garments lead the creation of current collections. Moreover, the fact that we produce garments with essential and timeless lines and a sartorial soul makes it possible to purchase something that goes beyond seasonal trends and use it as it was used in the past, passing through generations. Sustainability lies in buying less and better. This is inherent to the brand and not connected to a temporary choice or a green thrust - as it is common today. Last but not least, the choice of producing exclusively in a specific region meets the need to integrate deeply with it and its inhabitants. The respect for human, local and environmental value is at the base of every brand's project, thus promoting concrete and tangible sustainability.
