AYMARA

Aymara is the result of a love story between a Belgian engineer, Sven Van Gucht, and Yannina Esquivias, a young Peruvian travel agent. After falling in love, Yannina and Sven quit their jobs and founded a knitwear company in Peru with their family. Aymara, whose name refers to an ethnic group native to the Andes of South America, was born in 2007. The magic of Aymara lies in the combination of Belgian design with extraordinary fibres and textile craftsmanship of Peru. The brand's knitwear is made in the factory in Arequipa, in southern Perù. Excellent natural fibres play a key role, and are the starting point for every Aymara design. The garments in the autumn-winter collection are made from the softest alpaca blends; a cousin of the llama, whose fleece is prized for its thermal properties, silkiness and durability. Its production does not adversely affect the environment. Alpacas graze at altitudes ranging from 3500 to 5000 metres in the Peruvian Andes. Aymara uses only the finest alpaca fibres, called baby alpaca. The brand believes that, in today's world of fast fashion and mass consumption, more and more people are becoming more aware of the need to authentic products with a soul. When you turn to Aymara, you are sure to buy durable, sustainable garments with an extraordinary history.
